What is the Graphite Design System?
Graphite is a collection of reusable UI components and tools for building digital products. It’s actually a big box of LEGO bricks, developed according to clear standards, complete with good documentation. Graphite ensures high quality, good accessibility, and pleasant interactions.

Saving time
Graphite eliminates the need to constantly redesign and program common elements, such as a button. That’s great, for even a simple button isn’t quite that easy to create.
You need to pick the text color, weight, size, white space, and type of corner. Furthermore, there are several states (such as ‘hover,’ ‘active,’ and ‘disabled’) and versions (like ‘primary,’ ‘secondary,’ and ‘danger’). You can add icons and use various backgrounds. Moreover, the button should be accessible to all people in every situation.
So, there’s a lot to consider. It costs a lot of money and time to have a designer and a developer work on these elements for every project.
A clear visual language
A design system provides clear, visual language — with reusable components. It therefore improves quality and consistency, ensuring our design and development processes are much more efficient. Graphite is like a common vocabulary for everyone, which also facilitates collaborations between teams and disciplines.
We also use design kits that make it simple for designers to use Graphite’s components. Developers can then easily implement the design. Briefly put, it will save time — hours we prefer to spend resolving specific customer requests.
